Gerund as Modifier atau kata penjelas (adjective atau kata sifat)

Gerund as subject:

Gerund as direct object:

Gerund as subject complement:

PARTICIPAIAL PHRASE

Contoh participial phrases:
1.  Hidden by the trees, Jerry waited to scare Mark.
2.  Children introduced to music early develop strong intellectual skills.
3. Racing around the corner, he slipped and fell. 
4. She noticed her cousin walking along the shoreline.

Seperti halnya participle, participial phrases juga mempunyai dua jenis frase yaitu present participle phrases dan past participle phrases.

Contoh present participle phrases:

6. The boy running down the street is John.
7. Feeling better, the patient ate some soup.
8. A woman smiling at me is my teacher.

Contoh past participle phrases:
